We would like to welcome Ruth Andrew, our new Non-Executive Director, to the Bioscientifica Board.
Ruth is a qualified pharmacist and has a PhD in the field of pharmaceutical analysis. She holds a Chair in Pharmaceutical Endocrinology at the University of Edinburgh, which she joined in 1994 to develop her interest in mass spectrometry. She now directs the Clinical Research Facility Mass Spectrometry Core at the university. She is also a Council and Committee member of the Society for Endocrinology, as well as General Secretary elect (2021). In addition, Ruth sits on a number of grant panels and is editor of a number of journals.
Her recent research investigates the regulation of glucocorticoid metabolism and the role of hepatic 5α-reductase in diabetes and in dynamic methods. Her group focusses on quantifying these metabolic pathways in vivo using stable isotope tracers.
We look forward to working with Ruth and are excited to see what she can bring to Bioscientifica.
