Consistent poor sleep increases risk of depression

British researchers have identified a link between consistent periods of under 5 hours of sleep per night and the likelihood of developing depressive symptoms, with sleep preceding depression rather than depression leading to poor sleep. The study is published in Nature Translational Psychiatry.
