Evidence of sex differences in reactions to acute stress

Research published in Psychoneuroendocrinology saw sex differences in neuroendocrinological mechanisms of stress effects on emotional regulation. Male participants’ reactions to stress saw improved ability to downregulate emotional arousal via distraction, while women saw decreased regulatory performances.
