The Faculty of Biological Sciences at The University of Leeds has a fully funded PhD project opportunity!
This is an exciting project investigating neuronal circuits regulating feeding behaviour. Obesity has reached pandemic dimensions since the last several decades and is one of the leading agents behind the increased prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes and cardiovascular disease. A side of the individual genetic predisposition to gain weight, the exposure to an overwhelming obesogenic environment seems to be the leading cause of obesity.
Applicants to research degree programmes should normally have at least a first class or an upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline. A Masters degree is desirable but not essential.
The minimum English language entry requirement for research postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid.
