Leptin mechanism linked to obesity-related hypertension

According to a German study, published in Cell Metabolism, raised leptin levels cause hypervascularisation in the hypothalamus, via an astrocytic mechanism, that leads to hypertension. This mouse study highlights a novel role for astrocytes in blood pressure control.
