According to a Swiss study, presented at the European Stroke Organisation Conference, work stress is an underappreciated risk factor for stroke and heart disease that may affect women more than men. It is thought that chronically high levels of stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol may lead to heart and blood vessel damage via higher blood pressure.
