Popular sugar-free sweetener linked to DNA damage and cancer

Research published in Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health has found the chemical sucralose-6-acetate, found in the sweetener Splenda, is ‘genotoxic, meaning it causes DNA damage. The chemical increases gene activity linked to oxidative stress, inflammation, and cancer.
