Vitamin D supplements may reduce heart attack risk

New research published in The BMJ suggests that Vitamin D supplements could cut the risk of serious cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks, in older adults. In a randomised controlled trial involving more than 21,000 people aged over 60, the rate of heart attacks was 19% lower in those taking Vitamin D supplements compared with the control group.
