Study links endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) to decreased lactation

Research presented at ENDO 2024 has suggested that maternal exposure to EDCs, including per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) can disrupt lactation duration and mammary gland development. The study concludes that further research is needed, as effects of infant exposure to EDCs and PFAS through breastmilk are not known.
