A new study published in Nature Medicine challenges current thinking on the genetic causes of very early menopause. Researchers analysed genetic data from more than 100,000 women; 98 percent of individuals who carried variations in genes that had previously been considered to be causes of premature ovarian insufficiency did not experience menopause until after the age of 40.
