High visceral fat during menopause associated with cognitive decline

New research, published in Alzheimer's and Dementia, suggests that the composition of fat that a woman has around the time of menopause may affect the likelihood that she will experience cognitive decline.

High levels of white fat around the aorta were associated with worsening working memory, whereas greater levels of brown fat were associated with stronger memory recall later in life.
